Science and Technology Park
5.5 hectares , hubs, business, technology, all arround the platform from the Măgurele
Located 10 kilometers away from Bucharest center, Magurele city in Ilfov county accommodates the most important research platform in Romania. The 9 national R&D institutes along with the Faculty of Physics within the University of Bucharest form the most important hub of fundamental physics research, thus laying the foundation for the development of a state-of-the-art scientific park that would facilitate the dialogue between R&D and the academia, on the one hand, and the entrepreneurship and business sector, on the other hand.
Thus, pursuant the initiative of Ilfov County Council, the foundations of Magurele Science Park (MSP) were laid, a concept that will contribute to the development of the regional and national innovative entrepreneurship by establishing relationships between the industry and the research and by providing the framework necessary for the ongoing dialogue between these.
Magurele Science Park is intended to develop the innovative economy by supporting the marketing of the R&D outcomes and of other spin-off systems within the Universities and the Research Institutes and by participating in the creation of relevant culture in the field, as well as by capitalizing the presence of Extreme Light Infrastructure-Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) project and the Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering Institute (IFIN-HH) in the area adjacent to Magurele Science Park and as stakeholders of MSP. By offering facilities for start-ups and spin-offs developed by universities and research institutes, as well as to the R&D departments, we will help the development of synergistic relationships between the innovative entrepreneurship environment and the research and development environment.
Magurele Science Park shall become an European innovation hub, thus providing expertise, competencies, access to ultra-qualified labour force, and the development environment required for conducting business based on innovation and technological transfer.
Center of Technology Transfer (4800 mp)
Objective: to capitalize the research findings by introducing these in the economy flow as new or enhanced products, processes, and services.
Center of Technology Transfer will have a surface of 4,800 sqm, and will help identifying and building connections between research and business for the purpose of rapidly progressing innovation and does not allow slow assessment processes, according to the approach specific to classical R&D mechanisms.
Research activities will be conducted by the research institutes at the center, and the outcomes of these activities are to be transposed to the economic environment. The center will provide spaces to let, investigational laboratories to validate the concepts and the rapid entry to the marketing, shortening the long periods needed for marketing, and consistently following the quick advancement of current convergent technologies.
Innovation Center (3200 mp)
Objective: to develop innovation and entrepreneurship and to reinforce knowledge-based economy.
The Innovation Center will have a total surface of 3,200 sqm and will comprise spaces for events organization (seminars, promoting events, exhibitions), spaces intended for business pre-incubation and incubation activities. The center will provide business development and innovation professional services, designed to enhance the scale and extent of innovation and technology-based business.
The Innovation Center will support the international reach of start-ups, providing micro-services to multinational companies in the transcontinental entrepreneurship, will emphasize the international partnerships with other scientific parks, thus better serving the need for ‘slow transition’ of their occupants.
Expositional Center (4000mp)
Objective: it will be the binding factor between the start-ups, SMEs focused on technology – the major companies within the park – and the educational environment, thus ensuring the synergy necessary to create and develop human resources.
The Expositional center will have a total surface of 4,000 sqm. It will include presentation rooms, events spaces, offices.
This will provide a space for educational activities, so as to support the mission of the science park by means of adjusting the pre-university / university curriculum and the university culture, in order to facilitate creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. Moreover, youth activities will be developed within the museum in order to raise awareness about research as a professional field. Our aim is to change the trends of brain-drain from Romania through attract and support talents.
Magurele Science Park will be the booster needed to switch towards to an economy mainly based on innovation and technological transfer..
